School pupils in Milton Keynes given chance to become ambassadors for Rugby World Cup 2015

Shenley Brook End School was chosen as ambassadors for Milton Keynes. The programme, which is being delivered in partnership with the Rugby Football Union and the Youth Sport Trust, encourages young people aged 14-18 to become School Rugby Ambassadors and organise activities that encourage their peers to play the game and build excitement for Rugby World Cup 2015.
Councillor Hannah O’Neill, Deputy Leader of Milton Keynes Council said “Rugby World Cup 2015 coming to Milton Keynes is a fantastic opportunity to see one of the world largest sporting events on our doorstep.
“The School Rugby Ambassador programme gives pupils / students the chance to really feel part of it.
“They can encourage friends and family to get excited about Rugby World Cup and also to give rugby a try.
“There is nothing better than keeping fit and healthy by playing sport with friends.”
The School Rugby Ambassadors from Shenley Brook End School put together a touch rugby festival for almost 500 students as part of their build up to Rugby World Cup 2015. They were also joined by ex-South African International Thinus Delport.
The Ambassadors wanted to put on an event that got lots of students playing Rugby, but also informed them of the values of the sport, and what's happening in and around Host City Venue Milton Keynes.
The Ambassadors put together a really great day for everyone involved and got across the message of Rugby and what it means to be a part of a major sporting event. - Source - School Rugby Ambassadors Newsletter.
