History of Norman Walker‘s contribution to Milton Keynes Rugby Club
Norman Walker was born on 11th December 1936 and died on 5th December 2002. He lived in New Bradwell and served his apprenticeship as maintenance fitter at Wolverton Works. He served with the RAF where he played for the National Service Rugby Team and then between 1960’s - 1990’s was a member of Wolverton Rugby Club (MKRUFC).
His rugby career at Wolverton RC started at the recreation ground, then Windsor Street and eventually saw the Club’s transition from there to the new ground and clubhouse at Field Lane, Greenleys in 1974. According to a copy letter amongst his possessions from Milton Keynes Rugby Union Football Club he was invited to play in the Old Boys fun match at the opening celebration, which he accepted ‘rather reluctantly’.
